Lake Region State College has announced the hiring of Cole Klubek to lead the women’s hockey program. He started the position March 16th from Wyoming and will be on campus in early April.

Klubek has a vast athletics background and has coached at various levels. He was Hilbert College's (NCAA Division III) first women's hockey coach, leading the program in New York starting in 2021.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Klubek to our Lake Region State College and Devils Lake community! During the interview, his enthusiasm and energy to lead our women’s hockey team was evident to everyone present. The college looks forward to seeing him succeed in all aspects of the program," said LRSC Athletic Director Colden Hutton.

Beyond hockey, Cole brings a strong background in education and leadership. Before entering higher education and coaching, he spent ten years serving in the United States Air Force as a weather forecaster, leading teams responsible for aviation weather operations.

Klubek earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He also has 18 graduate credits in English from the University of Wyoming. He currently teaches secondary English and previously served as a graduate instructor at the University of Wyoming. Klubek was hockey director at Kendall Ice Arena in Miami and previously head coach of the Laramie Outlaws (14U) in Wyoming. While enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, he coached youth sports while stationed in various locations, including coaching the professional women's team Maddogs Mannheim in Germany. He is also a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach, demonstrating his commitment to athlete development and program excellence.

His experience building teams, mentoring student-athletes, and connecting athletics with the broader campus community will be a tremendous asset to LRSC.

"I look forward to coming to LRSC and celebrating the achievements of our student athletes on and off the ice," Klubek said.
