On Wednesday November 25th, at approximately 1 pm, power to the main campus will be turned off so contractors can begin the process to connect the power to the new Hofstad Ag Center. Sometime shortly before that, IT will take the network offline. The backup generator will also stay offline so related electrical switchgear can be replaced.
This will take ALL systems offline for at least a couple of hours. All files, folders, drives and internet connections will be unavailable. The key card access system will be down (all doors will electronically lock and a real key will be required for entry). The fire alarm systems will be down and the phone system will be offline (callers will only get a fast busy).
As a result, the campus will close at 1:00 pm for the remainder of the afternoon. Employees should finish any work requiring network connections and power down their computer prior to this time.
Other operational changes include:
- Dining Services will be open for lunch on Wednesday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Dining Services will work with Housing to make Wednesday evening meal arrangements for students who remain in the residence halls.
- College Care for Kids will close at 12:30 pm and require children to be picked up prior to that time.
- Mail for USPS must be in by noon, FedEx and UPS by 10 am.
- Blackboard, Campus Connection, and Peoplesoft will remain accessible but only with an external internet connection (home WiFi or a cellular hotspot).
