Students in the region recently were given the Royal Treatment from Lake Region State College when the campus visited area towns.
With its motto of “We Change Lives”, Lake Region State College decided to go out into regional communities to thank residents for past support, showcase students in their hometowns, and give future students the chance to win a scholarship with a program called Royal Treatment.
This was the second annual Royal Treatment at area schools. The six events took place December through February. Lake Region State College held a corn hole competition to name a winner at its Royal Treatment events. Schools visited included Carrington, Langdon, Lakota, Four Winds, NorthStar (Cando), and Grafton.
High School juniors and seniors were eligible to compete for $250 scholarship at six area high schools, with a grand prize $1,000 scholarship giveaway at the LRSC Royals’ final home basketball game February 23.
Juniors and seniors in the crowd competed at each location. The college also presented gifts to the home team booster club and held door prize drawings for game goers of all ages.
Lauren Cunningham of Thompson High School was the grand prize winner. She won $250 at the Langdon Royal Treatment and the $1,000 scholarship at the finale event in the Devils Lake Sports Center February 23rd during the Royals/WSC matchup.
