An area student recently received state honors.
Lily Mostad was awarded the Adult Education Student of the Year award. The award was given during the North Dakota Association for Lifelong Learning Beyond Boundaries annual conference in Bismarck.
Although traditional high school didn’t fit the mold for Lily, she gained the knowledge she needed to pass and receive her GED diploma.
“Because of her tenacity, drive, and the fact she is extremely bright, she was able to conquer her GED in only eight days, passing her last official test in December 2021,” said Bridget Hanlan, Region III Devils Lake Adult Learning Center Director.
Lily didn’t stop there. She immediately enrolled in classes at Lake Region State College to work on her associate degree in business management and accounting. Her goal is to one day be a personal banker.
Her advice to others is to focus on yourself, balance your life and ask for help when needed.
“There are always people willing to help. You just need to find them,” she said.
