Erin Wood, Lake Region State College Vice President for Advancement, recently was recognized as the Communicator of the Year National for Council for Marketing & Public Relations District 5. She received the recognition and award at the NCMPR District 5 conference in St. Paul Oct. 2nd.
The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges.
As a marketing and communication professional at a two-year community and technical college, these professionals work tirelessly to position the college firmly in the public consciousness. It's a great job, and that's why NCMPR is pleased to recognize those in our profession who rise to the top.
The Communicator of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious awards presented to an NCMPR member who has demonstrated leadership and ability in the area of college communications. It is awarded annually in each of NCMPR's seven districts, and district recipients automatically qualify to compete for the national award.
Wood received a dozen nominations for the award. Nominators stated she fosters a culture of mentorship and empowerment within her team. Her leadership style is inclusive and collaborative, creating a welcoming work environment where everyone feels valued and heard. She prioritizes open communication and transparency, ensuring all team members are aligned with our goals and objectives.
Erin’s level of professionalism serves as a benchmark for others in the industry. Colleagues from outside the marketing world have witnessed how her dedication and expertise influence her peers, setting a high standard for quality and integrity in her work at LRSC. They are confident her influence extends beyond LRSC, inspiring other marketing professionals to strive for excellence in their own work.
She is open to suggestions, a quality that makes her highly adaptable and receptive to new ideas and innovative approaches. This openness allows her to effectively collaborate with others, integrating diverse perspectives to create comprehensive strategies. Erin understands the nuances of student behavior, preferences and the channels they frequent, allowing her to tailor communications accordingly.
NCMPR is one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,600 members from nearly 600 colleges across the United States and Canada.
