Each year during the Devils Run Car Show in Devils Lake a competition for car enthusiasts 21 and under is held in Roosevelt Park. Younger car buffs enter the vehicles that have been refurbished or are in the process of being restored to their original look.
This year, almost 15 entries were involved in this year’s competition. Entrants are judged on a variety of components.
Lake Region State College’s Automotive Technology Department has been active in the competition for many years. Winners receive scholarships to attend LRSC and other prizes. Judges this year included Jeff Millar from Snap-on Tools, Arlynn Hefta, Geoffrey Skjerva, and Steve Toso.
Cadence Jenssen of Devils Lake earned first place and received $1,000 in scholarship from Lake Region State College. Second place was awarded to Cody Narloch of Drayton, ND. He received $750 in scholarship to LRSC. Third place was awarded Reese Neis of Carrington, ND. He received $500 in scholarship from LRSC. Fourth place was awarded to Ethan Klindt of Devils Lake who received $250 in scholarship. Each of the placers were also awarded a cash gift from Hefta and Snap-on merchandise
Lake Region State College Automotive Professor Rick McAllister said the entries this year were great.
“The participants endured a hot and sunny day to show off their projects. It is always reassuring to see the passion that they have for the automotive world!”
