Lake Region State College students recently attended a regional theatre festival.
Students Charles Craddock, Celeste McCash, and Megan Green along with LRSC Theater Director and Instructor April Hubbard attended the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Des Moines, IA, January 23-27.
At the festival they viewed invited productions, attended workshops and one act performances, improv performances, and much more.
Two members of the LRSC Playmakers were also honored at this year’s festival.
LRSC Playmakers Savannah Christensen and Natasha Lesmann with a commendation for Live Sound Reinforcement for the Fall 2022 LRSC production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). Savannah and Natasha were also given a commendation for their stage management of the Spring 2022 LRSC production of Fuddy Meers.
The cast of Fuddy Meers was also commended for their Ensemble Performance. The actors in that cast were LRSC Playmakers Charles Craddock, Gavin Eback, Nichole Hettwer, Lily Mostad, Sim Ritter, Michael Roed and Lakota High School student Calder Nelson.
Students from college theatre programs throughout our five state region (ND, SD, MN, IA, NE, KS) meet yearly at the festival. Started in 1969 by Roger L. Stevens, the Kennedy Center's founding chairman, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States.
