It is with heavy hearts this Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, that we announce the passing of former Lake Region State College Athletic Director and Women’s Basketball Coach, Duane Schwab.
Duane spent 25 years at Lake Region State mentoring student athletes, retiring in 2014. Throughout his career he had 572 wins, won 14 Mon-Dak titles, had 9 NJCAA National Tournament appearances, coached 8 All-Americans and led the Royals to three 30 win seasons. He received the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NDAPSSA) Special Achievement Award and was inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame.
An all-time great here at Lake Region State College, Duane was a coach, mentor, teacher, friend, and an LRSC legend.
