Everyone is hoping to recapture summer when the midway comes to town this October.
Lake Region State College’s Key Event – a County Fair with a Royal Flair – will roll into town Oct. 18th in the Ramsey County Memorial Building. Party goers can come ready for a night at the fair, dressed for a fun night of entertainment.
The Key Event is one of the biggest parties in the Lake Region and is a kick-off for the Community College Foundation’s fundraising year, said Erin Wood, Director of College Relations at LRSC.
The party starts at 5:30 pm Oct. 18 in the Ramsey County Memorial Building with the social and silent auction bidding. Guests will enjoy dinner and hall of fame inductions before returning to auction bidding. Many raffles and games also will be played throughout the evening.
“Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere over dinner. Local personalities like Peter Foss will add to the fun from the stage, and Hall of Fame inductees will be introduced.”
The evening will continue with the grand exhibition of the Opportunities Live Auction and end with grandstand entertainment by Slamabama from 10:00 pm to 12:30 am.
Proceeds from the auction and the party itself are used for scholarships for students and support for instructional programming, said Elonda Nord, director of the Community College Foundation. The foundation’s board of directors works very hard to direct funds to the places they are most needed, she added.
“Donors will be pleased to know their support is helping students reach their educational goals.”
Silent auction items are still needed. Homemade items, tools and equipment, antiques, artwork, sporting equipment, gift certificates, and outings or parties are always popular gifts. To donate an item or have one picked up, call 662-1520 or just drop it off at LRSC’s Foundation office.
Tickets are $60 and cover the entire night’s activities, including Slamabama. Only 300 tickets are available, so Wood encourages you to get your tickets now from the college or from a member of the Community College Foundation board or Key Event committee. The community is welcome to attend the Slamabama concert starting at 10:00 pm. A $10 cover charge will be collected at the door. To purchase tickets, contact 662-1683 or 1-800-443-1313.
