A new club sport is being offered this year at Lake Region State College.
The college has added a club clay target team, according to LRSC President Doug Darling.
“Many college students are requesting the sport as it grows in popularity on the high school level,” Darling said.
The activity is currently offered in a club format at many colleges in Minnesota and LRSC will compete in those club leagues. The team is open to both men and women. The head coach for the team is Norm Howard who currently teaches Intermediate Shotgun Shooting that is offered as a Health, Physical Education, and Recreation course. Howard will be assisted by long time sportsman and clay target shooting instructor Doug Darling.
Students who try out for the clay target team and are selected for participation, will join the Intermediate class on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the shooting sports range just north of the city.
If you are interested in trying out for the team or would like more information, contact Athletic Director Danny Mertens at (701) 662-1654.
